Safe rooms and panic rooms in Bologna and Emilia-Romagna: NetCom Security Group designs and builds, with its own technicians, the secure room of the house, in villas in the hills, family homes and prestige apartments in Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Parma and along the Riviera.
A safe room, also called a panic room, is the room where the family locks itself in and stays protected, with communications active, until help arrives. It is not a bigger safe nor one more armoured door: it is a system of envelope, access, air, light and procedures designed around people, which can also hold valuables. In Emilia the room protects people and, if needed, also keeps what the family holds most dear.

In brief
Where it is done in Bologna and Emilia-Romagna
The room that also keeps the collection
Many Emilian families have two things to protect: people and a collection. Watches, jewellery, works of art, documents, the car keys. The safe room is born for people, but it can also become the most protected place in the house: inside, a storage area with a dedicated envelope is created, so a single room does two jobs without one weakening the other. When the collection is large or must resist break-in for a long time, a strongroom or vault is added, in the cellar or next to the room.
The cars stay in the garage, but the garage enters the design: controlled door, cameras, sensors that warn before anyone reaches the vehicles, connected to the secure room.
Cellars and basements. Emilian houses often have a cellar with thick walls: a good starting point, because the envelope is partly already there. But a cellar becomes a safe room only if it has its own air, communications with the outside, a door that resists as much as the walls and a route that can be reached at night in a few seconds. Otherwise a room on the bedroom floor is better.

How we design it
- Confidential site visit. We look at the house, who lives in it, the daily routines, the routes and the time it takes for help to arrive.
- Scenario analysis. Intrusion with people at home, home robbery, emergency situations: for each one we decide where to lock in and for how long.
- Design of the room. Position, size, continuous envelope (walls, ceiling, floor), door and lock, air, light, backup power, independent communications.
- Integration with the system. Alarm, cameras, access control and home automation talk to the room: whoever is inside sees and communicates, whoever is outside does not get in.
- Installation and testing. Our technicians carry out the installation; structural works are signed off by licensed professionals. At the end we test everything together with the people who will use the room and hand over the written procedures.

What makes a room secure
Safe room, strongroom, bunker
They are three different things. A safe room protects people for minutes or hours. A strongroom or vault protects valuables, resisting break-in for a long time. A bunker or shelter is for external events, for days, with filtered air. The needs can be combined in a single project: we decide after the site visit. For an overview read safe rooms and panic rooms.

Connected to the rest of the house
The secure room works if it talks to the rest of the house and to the garage: a garden perimeter that warns early, cameras on the gate and the vehicles, access control that closes the openings, home automation that switches off the lights and blocks the lift. We design everything together, with our own technicians, and connect the system to selected external monitoring centres.

Confidentiality
We sign a non-disclosure agreement before receiving floor plans or documents. We ask only for the data needed for the project. Our clients' homes remain confidential, even after the works.
Where we work
We follow projects throughout Emilia-Romagna, from Piacenza to the Riviera, all over Italy and, by project, in Europe. Our office is in Negrar di Valpolicella (Verona), little more than an hour from Bologna: we arrange the site visit within a few days. The other areas: where we work in Italy.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a panic room cost in Bologna?
In Bologna and Emilia the cost of a panic room, in the experience of NetCom Security Group, depends on the size of the room, the level of protection of the envelope and the door, the air, light and communication systems and the building works needed in the house. After the site visit NetCom prepares a written bespoke proposal.
Is a safe room tax-deductible in Italy?
In part it can be: anti-theft works, such as armoured doors and reinforcements, are among the measures admitted by the Italian Revenue Agency. For expenses in 2026 the deduction is 50% for the owner's main home and 36% in other cases, up to 96,000 euros per property, in ten annual instalments. The specific case must be checked with an accountant.
Can the safe room also keep watches, jewellery and documents?
Yes: NetCom creates in the room a storage area with a dedicated envelope, or adds a strongroom or vault when the collection is large. The two functions are designed together.
Are the cellar or the basement suitable as a panic room?
Often yes, because thick walls help, but only with their own air, independent communications, a door as strong as the walls and a route that can be reached at night in a few seconds. NetCom assesses it at the site visit.
Does a safe room make sense in a second home on the Riviera?
Yes, when the house is lived in in summer and closed in winter: the room protects the family in the months of presence and keeps what stays in the house when it is empty.
Who does the work?
Our own technicians: NetCom designs, supplies, installs, connects to the system and tests. Structural works are signed off by licensed professionals.
